Shoujo Genre

Postby Seraimes » Wed Jun 10, 2009 12:25 pm

I just noticed that Millennium Prime Minister is actually a shoujo manga. I was about to order it but when I read the summary then checked mangaupdates and it's clearly a shoujo. This is confusing. Does Doki Doki plan to publish shoujo mangas along with shounen-ai?

Also, is Train Train more of a shounen-ai or shoujo? I'm nervous about that since I already placed my order for v1-2 without realizing it's also a shoujo. Is it possible for the website to clearly state if the manga is Yaoi, Shounen-Ai, or Shoujo. I would have been really upset if I were to order a shoujo manga while expecting shounen-ai/yaoi.

DokiDoki will publish shoujo, shonen-ai and yaoi titles. The yaoi DokiDoki books do say "YAOI MANGA" on the cover to differentiate (if you enlarge cover image on the DokiDoki site listing, it's over near the left by the DokiDoki logo). Also, under genre in the title listing on our site, yaoi titles will list "yaoi" there.

Millennium Prime Minister is a shoujo romantic comedy. Train Train is a shoujo comedy.

WOw. I'm so glad I bought Train Train. It's so hilarious. I love it. Even though it's not Yaoi, it's really good. I was laughing at so many different parts. Now I can't wait for v2-3 to be released. I just completed my preorder along with many other June and Doki titles. Oh and I love the new looks by the way. The small book looks so nice and the cover looks really pretty. If June were to change the book size to the "normal" size, it would be so much better. The glossy cover looks good too.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to more DokiDoki titles. Hopefully you guys will have great new licensed for next year as well.

Thanks for pointing out the "Yaoi Manga" label in front. I completely missed it. Now that I actually have the hard copy, it's more obvious. I'll take note of that for future orders as well. Thanks.

Glad to hear you liked Train Train, Seraimes. Just a few more weeks until vol. 2 should be available.

As far as the size of the books goes, it sounds like you prefer the "normal" size used on the DokiDoki line over Juné's regular size. There do seem to be fans of both. We'll keep your comments in mind.

I loved the first volume of Millennium Prime Minister, though I would have loved it more if it was a shounen-ai.

Train*Train is another DokiDoki title I enjoy. The characters are lovable.

Glad to hear you're liking Millennium Prime Minister and Train Train. While both are shoujo manga (they were originally serialized in Shinshokan's WINGS, I believe), Millennium Prime Minister 2 does have some moments that cross the line into shounen-ai a bit. Boys kissing qualifies, right? ;)

I find this confusing about American manga publishing for the fact that they use shonen ai for platonic male-male romance shojo manga and yaoi for manga aimed at female audiences, in which the two male leads are obviously attracted to eachother and focus on that more than anything, while in Japan both the above are BL/ shonen ai and yaoi is an otaku term for poorly drawn dojinshi. :?

Enjoying the scene in a very motion picture in which consumers are experiencing an extra cruise trip helps make 1 have to get on a single ship. Huge decks lined up together with vacationers, females on their floating around garments as well as drinks from the pool area, classy events generally hall : every little thing seems like extremely comforting and a lot of enjoyment.
