"Too Hot For Kindle": blocked books on Kindle

Postby kozato » Fri Mar 30, 2012 12:26 pm

I think by now we all know that Amazon Kindle is run by crazy monkeys on typewriters - obviously the ideal situation for everyone is to have all titles available for all platforms, but with Amazon's baffling censorship policies, it's becoming difficult for us at DMP to understand or predict what action they'll take towards a book.

To make sure you guys don't lose any sales because of angry Amazon-baboons, groups with blocked books are free to advertise their works as "TOO HOT FOR KINDLE" or something similar.

As of 4/4/2012, here's the list of blocked DMG books:
- Touching the Night Stars
- Son of the Mimura Family
- My Sweet Home
- The Faithful Dog Waits for Flowers

Go stick it to Amazon, guys. If you have any questions about the titles or have an extra promotional idea, feel free to mail preview@emanga.com or get in touch with me (Kozato!).

Son of Mimura is one of my groups (thanks for listing it by the way ^_^) and I find it so funny they counted that one but neither of it's other two volumes, one of which is just as 'bad'. *sigh* oh amazon

I know I brought it up at the DMG con call before that it is unbelieveable they are blocking "Son of the Mimura Family". There is more angst there than anything too graphic at all. I wonder if you should even contest w/ the reasons you listed below (the other two books in the series are published for kindle in AMZN). The positive outcome might be they will un-ban "Son of the Mimura Family" from kindle. Or... they might end up banning one or both of the others as well  It is really a roll of the dice here which is ridiculous.

I think just as we all complained to Amazon and they gave DMP their acct back, we should complain to amazon about the banned indiv titles..whether they are DMP/DMG/other yaoi pub's. They seem to be completely arbitrary... they have several titles they put back on, or passed, and they are much smuttier...not to mention "het" stuff that is def more "pornographic" in content.

At this point, my group's localization title, Hide and Seek by Reibun Ike is also apparently too hot for Kindle... so I emailed Amazon to "complain."

Some titles are held back during the post-production process, rather than outright banned. We hope to try to upload them in the future, but at the moment we're trying to play it a bit on the safer side to avoid losing our Kindle account outright again. It's unfortunate that it's come to this, but for some of these titles, there could be a Kindle future for them
