My introduction

Hello everyone,

I am new to Yaoi and Manga in general. I am male and live in New York City. I went o a large Manga store and bought 3 books: Laugh Under the Sun (a "one shooter)" that I am currently reading, a Gentlemen's Kiss 1, and I Shall Never Return 1. The clerk at the store also reccomended: Yellow, Jazz, Level C and Love Mode which are currently sold out but they will get more soon. I also ordered used copies of Gravitation 1,2,&3 because it is out of print, the store has the rest of the series.

If anyone can recommend a good title or tell me which ones are popular, I would appreciate that very much.

I've always wanted to visit Japan, especially Tokyo and Kyoto (to visit a Geisha tea house)

Welcome! I don't think I have any series I can recommend right now, because you've picked up a lot of older titles with a variety of stories. I would be very surprised if that store received more copies of "Love Mode", as that was a Tokyopop title and long out of print. Also, Love Mode is 11 volumes - not sure it's a series you want to get hooked on, as finding all the books could be a problem. I remember having to order Volume 10 from England to get it at a decent price, and that was a couple years ago.

DMP carries Omnibus volumes of the entire first Yellow series, and they are gorgeous. I believe DMP also mentioned restocking Jazz soon. Gravitation volumes are pretty easily found at decent prices on Ebay. Not sure the Level C volumes (there were 6) will be as easily found, as they are ancient.

Gentleman's Kiss volume 2 is good. I love that series, and you might want to try Love Control 1 & 2 if you like Gentleman's Kiss. Sadly, DMP has said it won't be publishing volume 3 of Love Control, though, so if you are a completeist, ignore my rec.
