The Weekly Digital Round-Up: Less Digital, More Fanime

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:30 pm

We’d like to extend a big thank-you to everyone who came out to the DMI and Project-H panels last weekend at Fanime! Wow, there were more of you than we expected, and it was great to see all the Fanime energy we’ve grown to love.

For those of you who weren’t there, we rolled out a bunch of exciting announcements. If you haven’t heard yet:

Castle Mango, Muku Ogura and Narise Konohara’s surprisingly sweet BL about love hotels and AV directors (of all things!) is slated to continue with volume 2! The book is scheduled for a print release at a future date — we’ll let you know when that is!

We also have three new yaoi licenses for you! Wolf Magic (Ookami wa Mahou wo) by Natsuki Zippo and Hideyoshico’s Apple and Honey (Ringo to Hachimitsu) and Apple and Honey: His Rose Colored Life (Karno Barairo no Jinsei), pictured above. All three books will be headed to the printing presses, with release dates TBA.

On the hentai front, Project-H announced six new licenses from fan favorite artists and fresh faces alike: Holy Knight by Maya Miyazaki, Not Enough Time to Pull it Out by Jouji Manabe, Fetishism with Dignity by Yuzuki N’ Dash, Love Story of a Kinky Girl by Ryuu Shinonome, You’re Too Hot for Me by Taira Azuma, and Pretty Please by Moral Anzaki. And if you’re not happy just looking at the titles in text, you can head over to the Project-H Twitter or Tumblr [18+ LINKS] to catch all, and we mean all the Project-H news!

Finally, and most exciting for the con goers amongst you, we’re proud to announce that Yaoi-Con will be returning to its home in the San Francisco Bay Area in Fall 2014! Our convention chairs are working hard to get the dates and venues squared away, so stay tuned and keep an eye on our Yaoi-Con Twitter feed and Facebook page for all the latest updates!

Phew! Lots of exciting stuff, but we’ve got one last thing to share: a beautiful new josei title on from the ever-talented Lily Hoshino: Romance of an Ancient Dreaming City!

Romance of an Ancient Dreaming City: Princess Olga lives inside a gilded cage. Denied the right to choose her future or even whom she may love, she seeks solace and escape in magic and the collection of magical artifacts. Through the enchantment of a golden circlet, she is transported to an exotic land very different and yet so very similar to hers, where she meets Abed, a young woman in similar circumstances. Between them lies a mysterious box with magic to grant them power over their destinies — but how high is the price for Olga’s freedom?

  1. Between the news of print BL returning sooner than expected and your new licenses, I’ve regained a portion of my former respect for you guys. But I don’t think I’ll ever trust you to the extent I once did. Not until you can proove that your DMP and June lines and the customers who buy from them are given as much of a priority as your hentai line. Which as of now, has not happened. You still have twice as many hentai as BL and no general titles listed at all :(

  2. Seriously. You guys just removed the only 2 books from the June listings and added more hentai. Do you just not give a crap about anything but hentai anymore. If you continue on this route I’m just going to go to SuBLime for my BL needs from now on. Because clearly, “fujoshi” just aren’t a priorty.

  3. Oh and by the way, I seriously have doubts that you’re even going to print any of the BL you claim is coming out. I’m sure this weeks early print books will mysteriously be replaced with more hentai. Have fun peddling to your new fan base. Perverted old men. Because you’re going to lose all your other customers >:(

  4. I just checked your release schedule on June. One freakin book a month. One!!! Compared to 6-8 Hentai!!! You people have officially made me sick. After I buy Tyrant I am boycotting you and your whole company. And I hate the fact that I’ve spent so much money on your products all these years. Fall in a hole and die you stupid preverts.

  5. Sevi, I’m just as sick of the massive Hentai releases as you. There’s been little to no BL in print for a long while. But lets be honest here, aren’t fujoshi just as perverted? ( Let’s not be shy. lol ) We all watch cartoon people screw each other, the only difference is what they got between their legs. But yeah, I totally know how you feel. It does feel like the publisher favours hentai fans now, at least in print. I’m interested what actually brings them more sales. But even if hentai sells better, don’t screw us BL fans. Digital is okay, but I’ll always prefer print. Hentai is overflowing the schedule with titties. Fine, but give us our share of the cake too!

  6. Hi there, sevi. While we appreciate the feedback and absolutely allow for customers to express frustration (which we share) with the delays on print yaoi, if you continue to post comments such as “go die” then we’ll unfortunately have to ask you to refrain from commenting any longer. Disappointment and anger is acceptable – wishing harm on anyone is not.

  7. admin, while I agree with your admonition of sevi’s negative comment- you do not address her issues and ours. You say you have frustration about what is happening but you do not tell us WHAT is happening. Just a little heads up and answers to our questions would go a long way in keeping your long term customers. So what is happening to the schedule? What happened to Tyrant and ZE? Distribution, printing, costs? Please don’t kick us to the curb for hentai, we’ve been with you for a long time.
